It was great seeing everyone at the cookout on Sunday! Hope you enjoyed the food and catching up with everyone…thanks for making Surrey Place a great neighborhood!
New Entrance Sign Landscaping
Our new retaining wall and landscaping has been installed at our entrance sign on Chamblee-Tucker! Thanks to the Surrey Place HOA members who's financial support contributed to this great project, and thanks to Oscar Avelar and A&A Landscaping for their assistance with the installation.
Chamblee Capital Paving Program
From our Councilman, John Mesa: The City of Chamblee has decided to postpone its 2018 Capital Paving Program. City staff recently became aware of DeKalb County’s award of three major sewer repair projects in the city. The county will be repairing or replacing sewer lines in the Kewsick, Huntley Hills and DECA areas. This information was not available during the original planning for our 2018 road resurfacing projects. Our next step is to meet with county contractors to determine how we can collaborate to accomplish the sewer repairs together. Most importantly, the city is not in any danger of losing funding for road repairs if road resurfacing projects are suspended while the county is handling the sewer repairs, and we will continue to repair potholes, curbs and gutters.

Brookhaven, Chamblee PD Part of Federal Anti-Crime Task Force
The Brookhaven and Chamblee police departments are part of a task force designed to fight gang and drug crime in DeKalb County.
The U.S. Department of Justice recently granted nearly $500,000 to combat gang violence and drug crime in DeKalb County, according to the Chamblee police department.
The funds will be used to form the DeKalb Project Safe Neighborhoods Task Force, which will be coordinated by the Atlanta U.S. Attorney’s Office. DeKalb's police department is also a member of the task force.
Development 101 Returns in the Fall
In the fall, the Development 101 program will host a series of classes about development to educate residents and business owners on the Unified Development Ordinance, zoning, permitting and code enforcement. The classes are open to anyone who wants to take them, though spaces are limited and will be filled on a first come, first-served basis.
More Proof that Chamblee Development is Going Gangbusters
If there was any doubt the MARTA Gold Line is drawing investment to the northeastern ITP city of Chamblee, they should be squashed pretty soon. In fact, the Gold Line is becoming a veritable gold mine for developers — or at least they hope it will be.
